Fortaleza will receive the first boat powered by green hydrogen in November. The Energy Observer will be brought by Qair, a French renewable energy company headquartered in the capital, and will be docked at Marina Park between November 16 and 24.
The Energy Observer acts as a laboratory for the energy transition and is designed with cutting-edge zero-emission technologies. The vessel produces green hydrogen from the electrolysis of seawater and is self-sufficient.
Captain and founder of the ship, Victorie Erussard, points out that the vessel is an experimental and revolutionary platform. "Its electric propulsion is powered by renewable energies, including sun, wind and water. But what makes it unique is its ability to store energy in the form of hydrogen produced from seawater, a technology that allows it to navigate with total autonomy," he points out.
Fortaleza will be the ship's 83rd stop. The round-the-world mission began in 2017 from France and is expected to last eight years. The vessel will be open for visitation by guests only
During the ship's stop in Fortaleza, Qair will promote exhibitions on energy transition and ocean literacy. The event will take place at the Qair Experience space, with immersive exhibitions on the subject.
The CEO of Qair Brasil, Jorge Borrell, points out that the boat's arrival in Ceará represents a milestone in the journey for the energy transition. "We are committed to leading the way towards a cleaner future where renewables play a central role in our society. It is our collective responsibility to turn our visions into concrete actions, and I am confident that together, we will build a greener and more sustainable world for future generations."
