  JOHANNESBURG, July 24 (Xinhuanet - Reporter Xie Jiang) -- Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Working Committee on Foreign Affairs of China (CWCFA), met with Amorim, Chief Special Adviser to the Brazilian President, on July 24 in Johannesburg.

  "As the largest developing countries in the East and West hemispheres respectively, China and Brazil share common strategic interests," Wang said, "China is willing to work with Brazil to deepen strategic mutual trust, expand strategic cooperation, strengthen the dovetailing of the “Belt and Road” Initiative with Brazil's “Re-industrialization” and “Accelerated Growth Plans”, and explore more points of common interest and growth in cooperation, so as to make China-Brazil relations a model of solidarity and cooperation among emerging-market countries and developing countries, jointly promoting human development and progress, and working towards the goal of building a community of with shared future."

  Wang Yi said that the BRICS mechanism has become the most representative platform for South-South cooperation and faces a historic opportunity for development and growth. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Brazil to jointly promote BRICS cooperation to meet the needs of the situation and the voices of all parties, to keep pace with the times and make new progress, so as to better safeguard the common interests of emerging-market countries and developing countries, and to more effectively promote the process of multipolarity in the world and the democratization of international relations.

  Amorim said that China is an important strategic partner of Brazil, and the all-round cooperation between the two countries is fruitful. Brazil is willing to work with China to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries, closely communicate and coordinate strategies, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields such as aviation, automotive, high-tech, green economy, climate change response, etc., so as to realize the effect of "1+1 is greater than 2". Brazil is willing to strengthen cooperation with China within the BRICS and other multilateral frameworks, so as to jointly adhere to multilateralism and jointly safeguard world peace.

  The two sides also exchanged views on international issues of common concern.
