With the theme “Jointly Harnessing Opportunities of Industrial Internet for Digital Transformation of Manufacturing”, this forum promotes BRICS cooperation in the fields of industrial Internet and digital transformation, further consolidates the BRICS partnership on new industrial revolution, and promotes joint technological progress, industrial transformation and economic development.

Global scientific and technological innovation has currently entered an unprecedented intensive and active period. A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is reshaping the global innovation map and economic structure. Many delegates believe that with the deepening of the fourth industrial revolution, the real economy is experiencing accelerated digital, network and intelligent evolvement. Industrial Internet is booming and innovation is active. These will promote all-round reform and innovation in the manufacturing industry, and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.

“The Industrial Internet has provided opportunities and technical impetus for countries around the world to achieve green recovery and sustainable development. The manufacturing digital transformation has also become a strategic consensus and key for countries to promote economic growth and maintain competitive advantages.” Li Dongsheng, Vice Chair of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and Chairman of the Board of TCL, said that in the future, he is willing to strengthen cooperation with enterprises in the industry, seize the major opportunity of global economic restructuring and China’s manufacturing development, and intensify scientific and technological innovation.

As an important outcome, the “BRICS Manufacturing Digital Transformation Cooperation Initiative” was released at the forum. The initiative promotes the BRICS manufacturing digital transformation cooperation in ten aspects, including digital development consensus, accessible digital infrastructure, manufacturing digital transformation, open and collaborative new ecology, and multilateral international cooperation mechanism.

“As a new infrastructure application model and industrial ecology that integrates the new generation of ICT and industrial economy, Industrial Internet has built a service system covering the whole industrial chain and value chain by fully connecting people, machines, things and systems, providing a pragmatic path for the manufacturing transformation and upgrading of BRICS countries.” Lu Chuncong, President of the China Academy of Industrial Internet, said that the BRICS countries have great demand for Industrial Internet and manufacturing digital transformation, and the prospects are broad.

Lu Chuncong proposed that, based on the industrial realities and the needs for digital transformation of BRICS countries, it is necessary to encourage member countries to establish partnerships, build an enabling platform for digital transformation, promote the interactive development of large, medium and small enterprises, tap the potential of data, and create data-driven new models, formats and products to jointly upgrade the application of digital technology.
